Welcome and thank you for visiting the ever changing SFA Gardens web site. Since 1985 the Gardens have grown from a small 1/4 acre patch on the South side of the Agriculture building to 128 acres of on-campus property. The gardens boast an amazing diversity of plant life that has been accumulated through a network of friends, plant enthusiasts, nurserymen, and colleagues in the USA, China, and Mexico. The SFA Gardens is comprised of major theme gardens that make their home along LaNana Creek, the stream that cuts through Stephen F. Austin State University and our fair city, Nacogdoches. Theme gardens include the SFA Mast Arboretum, the Ruby M. Mize Azalea Garden, the Pineywoods Native Plant Center, Jimmy Hinds Park, the Gayla Mize Garden and collections along the LaNana creek corridor. What makes SFA Gardens special is plants, people and plans!
